Sheila worked with Ruth to create her Life Story Book in 2024-5, as part of a Life Stories project with Halton Libraries.
Here she shares her experience of taking part.
Why did you want to write your life story?
I wanted to leave a lasting memory for my family and I realised that I had a lot to say.
What did you enjoy about working on the book with Ruth?
She was a good listener and encouraged me to think back to the past.
How did taking part and creating the book make you feel?
It made me realise that from very humble beginnings I had done an awful lot of good things. It also made me feel proud of my achievements.
What did you think of your book when you received it?
I loved my book and was very proud to see it all on paper, I was absolutely thrilled.
What have you done with the books since you received them?
I have given copies of my book to my family and friends. The family were not aware of what I had achieved and were delighted to know me better.
