Gwen

Gwen took part in the Halton Libraries’ Life Stories project in 2024. Here she shares her thoughts on what it meant to be part of it.

Why did you take part in the project?

I thought it was a good idea, I’ve not always looked and felt the way I do now, and wanted to look back on my life.

What did you enjoy about the project?

It’s been a great experience; you make me laugh! I’ve really enjoyed going back into my life and remembering all the things that I did when I was younger.

How did you feel about taking part?

Before I got my book I was dying for it to arrive. It was amazing to read it, though it did remind me of all the things I’d forgotten I said!

I’ve given my three copies away and need more, so many people – children, grandchildren, friends – want to read it.

What was your highlight?

Chatting and having a cup of tea with Ruth.

Gwen’s story

One of our favourite stories, of the many Gwen shared with us, is about her swimming training – with swans in the Bridgewater Canal! Click the link below to listen to her talk about what that was like.
